Paper Shredders

Paper shredders are devices used to cut paper into smaller element such as strips and small particles. Versions of paper shredders have been around since the early 1900`s. The early versions were originally sold to government agencies and financial institutions to destroy documents.

Paper shredders have become more sophisticated over the years to provide different levels of security. A strip cut shredder is the least secure since it is fairly easy to reassemble the strips after they have been shredded.

Cross cut shredders, also known as confetti shredders, use two rotating drums to cut paper into smaller harder to assemble pieces. Other shredders, such as disintegrators and grinders reduce paper to tiny unrecognizable pieces small enough to pass through a screen.

Paper shredders have expanded in popularity over the years. Businesses frequently use paper shredders or the services of a paper shredding company to destroy documents, such as privileged customer information, that they don't want the competition or identity thieves getting their hands on. Individuals use personal paper shredders in their homes to protect their privacy.
